The Starlett app: 3 + 4 = 7 laid out on a work rug in a sunny classroom, with seven apples counted and bead bars under each number, the 3D tutor standing beside it, a round button at the foot of the screen labelled “Starlett’s turn”, and two small wooden signs, Privacy Policy and Grown-ups, hanging in the top corner.

What Starlett does today

Starlett is in a private beta. Here are just a few of the things she does now. Your child might ask her questions like these.

  • Math with pictures

“What’s 3 + 4?” Starlett can show it with pictures to count, like these apples. Taking away, groups and sharing too.

  • A tutor with a face

An animated 3D character whose face moves as she talks.

  • Talks and listens

“Why is the sky blue?” Your child asks a question out loud, and Starlett answers the same way.

  • Spelling, letter by letter

“How do you spell dog?” Starlett can say each letter out loud as it lights up.

  • A globe to explore

“Where is Japan?” Japan can light up on a 3D globe while Starlett talks about it.

  • From drawing to picture

Your child draws a cat on the screen, and Starlett can turn it into a picture.
